Quality Assurance Engineer – Multiple Locations – Playwright, Java, UFT & API Automation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join a dynamic and diverse technology team supporting critical financial systems. In this 12-month contract role, you will play a key part in strengthening and protecting economic, financial, and payments systems through rigorous testing and automation.

You will collaborate with leading professionals to verify system functionality, component interactions, and complete user workflows against business requirements. The position offers a hybrid work model with on-site presence required five days per month for candidates within 120 miles of Kansas City, Denver, Oklahoma City, or Omaha.

United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident alien status with at least three years of U.S. residency is required.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct functional, integration, system, and end-to-end testing to verify system functionality and complete user workflows against business requirements.
  • Perform regression testing after each build or release to ensure previously working functionality remains intact.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test cases and regression test suites using a risk-based testing approach.
  • Perform UI testing for web applications and API testing to validate REST/SOAP services, request/response payloads, and API contracts.
  • Log and track defects through their lifecycle, perform defect verification, re-testing, and provide root-cause analysis.
  • Develop configurable, maintainable, reusable, and dependable test automation components while coding and troubleshooting Java daily.
  • Assist with test environment setup and maintenance, prepare test data, and support manual testers with automation needs.

Must-Haves

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in quality assurance engineering (6–10 years preferred).
  • Experience with Playwright Automation Framework using Java, UFT, and VB scripting.
  • Experience with API automation using Java Rest Assured or similar frameworks, plus hands-on Postman experience.
  • Experience with test management tools such as XRAY or similar for test case management, execution, and traceability.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Oracle, business objects, web technologies, and authentication or security technologies.
  • Familiarity with Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, and Behavior Driven Development methodologies.
  • Experience implementing and auditing automated test methodology and QA standards.
  • United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident alien status with at least three years of U.S. residency.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Oracle and Business Objects.
  • Knowledge of security technologies and test environment setup.
  • Ability to prepare architecture diagrams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
