About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Estimator to join a collaborative project estimating team. This entry-level position is ideal for early-career professionals who want to build a strong foundation in cost estimating while supporting a diverse portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects.
In this role, you will prepare and manage cost estimates for a wide range of technologies, including wind, utility-scale solar, distributed solar, energy storage, transmission and distribution lines, substations, water treatment, 5G and fiber, hydrogen, pipelines, and fossil generation. You will work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure estimates are accurate, feasible, and aligned with organizational goals.
This is a contract opportunity based at our client's Juno Beach office, with occasional travel to project sites. The assignment offers excellent exposure to large-scale projects and a clear path for professional growth in the field of project estimating.
What You'll Do
- Prepare detailed project cost estimates, including conceptual, preliminary, and definitive estimates for new and existing projects.
- Perform conceptual engineering design and develop preliminary construction plans to support scope quantification.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather and analyze project specifications, drawings, and documentation.
- Conduct value engineering analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and project requirements.
- Develop and maintain estimation tools, databases, and methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Assess project risks and develop contingency plans to address potential uncertainties.
- Present cost estimates and value engineering options to senior management, project stakeholders, and clients.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure best value.
- Track project costs and variances throughout the project lifecycle, updating estimates as scope, design, or market conditions change.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in all estimating activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from senior team members.
- Eagerness to learn and develop professionally in project estimating.
Preferred Skills
- Internship or practical experience in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with cost estimation software such as PlanSwift, WinEst, CostX, or similar.
- Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
