Data Scientist – Geospatial – Juno Beach, FL (On-site) – 12-Month Contract
Our client is seeking a Data Scientist – Geospatial to serve as a technical leader responsible for designing and delivering advanced analytical and modeling solutions using geospatial data. This role leads complex spatial analytics efforts, mentors less experienced data scientists, and collaborates with GIS teams and business leaders to translate geospatial data into actionable insights. The position requires deep expertise in data science techniques and hands-on experience with spatial analytics at scale.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity based on-site in Juno Beach, FL. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping enterprise geospatial capabilities and driving measurable business impact through scalable, production-grade solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable GIS tools, analytical applications, spatial data products, and reusable geoprocessing capabilities.
- Establish technical standards and development frameworks that guide the architecture of enterprise geospatial solutions.
- Develop and oversee spatial data pipelines, APIs, and automation workflows to support complex business and operational needs.
- Integrate GIS capabilities with cloud platforms, enterprise data systems, and AI services.
- Mentor less experienced data scientists and promote best practices across the team.
- Collaborate with GIS teams and business leaders to translate geospatial data into actionable insights.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree with at least 2–4 years of experience in data science, with a preference for data science in GIS during the last 4 years.
- Extensive experience developing production-grade analytical tools and applications.
- Strong track record of delivering enterprise-level business impact.
- Experience leading complex spatial analytics efforts and mentoring less experienced data scientists.
- Experience designing and developing scalable GIS tools, analytical applications, spatial data products, and reusable geoprocessing capabilities.
- Experience developing and overseeing spatial data pipelines, APIs, and automation workflows.
- Experience integrating GIS capabilities with cloud platforms, enterprise data systems, and AI services.
- Proficiency in Python, GIS, spatial analytics, data science, ArcGIS, geoprocessing, API development, cloud platforms, and data modeling.
Preferred Skills
- Significant experience developing GIS tools and applications using Esri technologies such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python, ArcGIS REST APIs, and ArcGIS Maps SDKs.
- Experience developing custom geoprocessing tools, Python toolboxes, web-based mapping applications, dashboards, widgets, extensions, and automated spatial analysis workflows.
