About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Agile Technical Coach to join a dynamic team in Kansas City, Missouri. This is a 12-month contract opportunity where you will play a pivotal role in guiding teams through a comprehensive agile transformation. You will serve as a hands-on change agent, embedding modern engineering practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.

In this role, you will partner closely with program-level coaches and delivery teams to mature their agile capabilities. Your focus will be on the technical execution side of agility—coaching teams on Extreme Programming (XP), Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and robust DevOps pipelines. Key Responsibilities

  1. Act as a change agent, challenging existing processes and coaching teams to adopt agile mindsets and behaviors while maintaining psychological safety.
  2. Partner with program agile coaches to guide teams through their maturation journey, providing direct coaching, connecting them with experts, and facilitating peer guidance.
  3. Foster a culture of agility, continuous improvement, and quality assurance at both the team and enterprise levels.
  4. Coach teams to close delivery process gaps with a heavy emphasis on technical practices including TDD, BDD, XP, secure coding, pair programming, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  5. Design and execute an Agile Adoption Strategy that scales from introduction through sustaining methodologies and continuous improvement.
  6. Develop and deliver training materials, presentations, and written communications to educate team members and stakeholders on agile principles and technical practices.
  7. Drive improvement through a practical, achievable delivery style and promote appropriate metrics to demonstrate that good practices are taking hold.


Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in business, computer technology, or equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience.
  2. 5+ years of experience coaching, leading, and guiding full-scale agile transformations as an external coach.
  3. Oral and written communication skills, with proven experience leading and facilitating team meetings and work sessions with technical and non-technical participants at all levels of the organization.
  4. Expert-level knowledge of Scrum and Kanban Agile Frameworks.
  5. Deep expertise in agile development techniques such as TDD, BDD, and XP.
  6. Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and Automated Testing.
  7. Proficiency with JIRA and various software/agile tools.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven experience facilitating meetings and work sessions for technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
  9. Strong coaching and facilitation skills, including building trust, creating psychological safety, and consensus building.
  10. United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident alien status is required.
  11. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless a medical or sincerely held religious belief accommodation is granted.


Preferred Skills

  1. Agile Coaching certification such as Certified Team Coach or Agile Certified Professional.
  2. Direct experience with pair programming.
  3. Experience in Agile testing practices.
