Permitting Project Manager – Juno Beach, FL (On-site)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Permitting Project Manager to lead and facilitate the permitting process for large-scale renewable energy facilities. In this role, you will work directly with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to secure all permits required to build and operate solar, wind, battery energy storage, and associated transmission and substation infrastructure. This is a 12-month contract opportunity based on-site in Juno Beach, FL.

We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a cross-functional environment and can drive project progress through complex regulatory landscapes. The ideal candidate brings a proactive mindset, excels at building relationships with regulatory agencies, and has a proven ability to identify risks, apply lessons learned, and standardize best practices to maximize efficiency across current and future projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage and coordinate permit applications for renewable energy construction projects across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  2. Develop and maintain productive relationships with local AHJs to streamline the permitting process and resolve issues proactively.
  3. Interpret and apply local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental requirements to project-specific permit strategies.
  4. Prepare, review, and track permit applications and all supporting documentation for completeness and compliance.
  5. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, construction, development, and project management teams to align permit activities with overall project schedules.
  6. Identify, assess, and report permit-related risks, developing and implementing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
  7. Maintain accurate records of permit applications, approvals, and communications, and keep project teams informed of timelines and requirements.

Required Qualifications

  1. 5+ years of experience in a corporate environment, ideally within permitting, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
  2. Strong understanding of building codes and permitting processes, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements.
  3. Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building relationships with external agencies.
  5. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  6. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to foresee challenges and develop practical solutions.
  7. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no alcohol/drug-related driving offenses within the last five years and no current suspension or restriction).

Preferred Skills

  1. Experience with construction projects related to renewable energy, electrical utility, or major infrastructure permitting.
  2. Familiarity with environmental regulations and pre-application meeting processes with regulatory agencies.
