Solar Development Project Manager

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in renewable energy construction, is seeking an experienced Project Management Consultant to join their Early-Stage Solar Engineering & Construction (E&C) group. This is a 12-month contract position based on-site in Juno Beach, FL, where you will work closely with the Solar Regional Lead Project Manager to drive a portfolio of utility-scale solar projects from early development through to construction handover.

This role sits at the intersection of technical, commercial, and financial disciplines. You will operate with significant autonomy, taking full ownership of project outcomes while collaborating with subject matter experts, executive leadership, and external stakeholders. If you are a well-rounded business professional with strong technical aptitude—or a technically minded individual with solid financial acumen—this position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of clean energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Independently manage a portfolio of assigned solar projects through the entire early-stage lifecycle, ensuring each is technically feasible, commercially supported, schedule-appropriate, and financially viable before turnover to the Construction team.
  2. Analyze complex technical and financial data sets to identify key variables, trends, and market impacts; proactively calibrate project strategies to align with broader business unit and corporate targets.
  3. Own and actively manage individual project capital budgets, balancing positive and negative variances across the portfolio to meet financial objectives.
  4. Coordinate development and permitting activities, facilitate engineering deliverables, and negotiate commercial contracts to secure project milestones.
  5. Develop and maintain viable construction plans and schedules, investigating optimization opportunities and resolving problems before they escalate.
  6. Serve as a central point of communication, interfacing regularly with executive leadership, suppliers, regulatory agencies, local communities, and other key stakeholders.
  7. Support continuous improvement by contributing to process enhancements, tool development, and training initiatives within the broader Early-Stage team.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of progressive project management experience, ideally within complex, multi-disciplinary environments.
  3. Demonstrated strength in financial and data analysis, with the ability to interpret and act on quantitative insights.
  4. Mechanical awareness or a genuine interest in technical variables relevant to construction and energy infrastructure.
  5. Exceptional organizational skills and a proactive, self-starting mindset.
  6. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes setting while managing competing priorities independently.
  7. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record: no alcohol- or drug-related driving offenses within the past five years, and no current suspension or restriction. (Driving is an essential function of this role.)

Preferred Skills

  1. Direct experience in construction, the energy industry, or utility-scale solar projects is strongly preferred.
