Senior Planner Scheduler – Nuclear Maintenance & Modifications
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Planner Scheduler to develop comprehensive work packages that support safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance, modification, and surveillance activities at a nuclear power facility. This position calls for advanced planning expertise, deep technical knowledge of nuclear systems, and the ability to lead planning initiatives that keep critical work on track. You will serve as a key technical resource, collaborating across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Work Management, and Supply Chain to optimize work execution.
This is a 15-month contract role based on-site in Homestead, FL. The assignment offers per diem at GSA rates and follows a standard furlough schedule aligned with select national holidays. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed work order task descriptions, including step-by-step instructions, material requirements, tool lists, and post-maintenance testing requirements.
- Plan complex maintenance activities such as ASME Section XI work, ISI/IST programs, and modification packages, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements, technical specifications, and plant procedures.
- Coordinate clearance requirements and equipment isolation strategies with Operations, and identify and resolve technical issues during the planning phase to prevent field delays.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced planners, lead planning initiatives for outage and online work, and deliver training content for planner development programs.
- Interface with Radiation Protection and Chemistry to incorporate radiological and chemical hazard controls, and participate in pre-job briefs and post-job critiques to continuously improve planning quality.
- Support outage planning activities, including milestone achievement and critical path management, while maintaining configuration control and proper documentation of as-built conditions.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, tools, and standards; develop and maintain planning templates, work standards, and best practices; and support the implementation of new planning technologies and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent 10 years of plant experience in a technical role (Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related science preferred).
- Minimum 7+ years of nuclear power plant experience, with at least 4 years in maintenance planning or an equivalent technical role, demonstrating progression in planning responsibilities and complexity.
- Comprehensive understanding of nuclear plant systems, components, and operations, including working knowledge of ASME codes (Section XI, Section IX), ISI/IST programs, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with work management systems such as NAMS/Passport, NextEra One, and Primavera P6.
- Understanding of maintenance practices across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, I&C) and knowledge of configuration management, design control, and modification processes.
- Excellent technical writing, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under critical deadlines.
- Must obtain and maintain unescorted badge access into nuclear protected areas, including NERC CIP Unescorted Physical access and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission access.
- Fluency in ISI, IST, ASME Section XI, ANI, ANII, and Weld Travelers.
Preferred Skills
- Experience planning for refueling outages and major maintenance activities.
- Familiarity with multiple nuclear plant designs (PWR and/or BWR).
- Knowledge of Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) controls and cleanliness requirements.
- Experience with engineering calculations and technical evaluations.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
