Technical Services Specialist – Power Generation & Real-Time Markets
About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Services Specialist – Level 1 Associate to join their Asset Operations team in Juno Beach, FL. This is a 6-month contract position supporting the real-time desk in overseeing a diverse generation fleet across multiple North American power markets. You will work directly alongside senior traders and operators, gaining hands-on exposure to power generation economics, dispatch, and ISO/RTO protocols.
This role is ideal for an early-career professional who thrives in a fast-paced, shift-based environment and is eager to build foundational expertise in energy markets. You will follow established procedures to complete daily recurring tasks while developing the ability to interpret market signals and system conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior real-time desk operators in monitoring and managing generation assets across ISO/RTO markets including ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, SERC, SPP, MISO, ERCOT, CAISO, WECC, IESO, and AESO.
- Execute daily recurring shift tasks with precision, adhering to standard operating procedures and checklists.
- Support transmission reservation and tagging activities to ensure compliant energy deliveries.
- Develop and apply a working knowledge of power generation economics, unit dispatch characteristics, and market portal navigation.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with internal teams, conveying real-time operational information and status updates.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail when entering data, monitoring system alerts, and documenting shift activities.
- Collaborate effectively during a 12-hour rotating Dupont schedule, ensuring seamless shift handovers.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree completed, in progress with substantial completion, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform reliably in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Willingness and ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift pattern (Dupont schedule), including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, including intermediate-level Excel skills.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- Prior generator operator, control center, or real-time energy trading desk experience.
- One or more years of professional experience in energy operations, dispatch, or a related analytical role.
