Wastewater Treatment Manager – Lumber Bridge, NC (On-site) – Water Treatment & Compliance Leadership
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Manager to lead water treatment operations and well-field management at their Lumber Bridge, North Carolina complex. This is a full-time, on-site leadership role responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality water to support every operation across the facility while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
You will directly supervise a team of Water Treatment Operators, drive preventative maintenance programs, and serve as the primary liaison to environmental and regulatory stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of water treatment plant and well-field operations, including parts, supplies, chemical inventory, and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain and repair wells and all water treatment equipment to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality water supply for the entire complex.
- Analyze operational data and logs to optimize treatment and solids removal; document and report findings to the Regional Wastewater Manager and Environmental department.
- Prepare and submit required reports to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) for well water usage and permitting.
- Supervise, schedule, and develop hourly Water Treatment Operators; lead selection, performance management, training, and career development.
- Champion a safe working environment by providing proper safety equipment, tools, and ongoing safety training for all team members.
- Ensure water quality and quantity consistently meet the demands of every operation across the Lumber Bridge complex.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in water and/or wastewater treatment.
- Active Water Treatment license with required endorsements.
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal (EPA) compliance requirements and regulations.
- Proven supervisory experience with the ability to lead, coach, and develop hourly staff.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
Preferred Skills
While not required, additional certifications in wastewater treatment, advanced water quality analysis, or experience with DNREC reporting are highly valued. Our client also welcomes candidates with a background in continuous improvement and preventative maintenance program leadership.
