About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead advanced technical, financial, and regulatory planning for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. In this role, you will guide initiatives from early development through construction readiness, applying advanced engineering, economic, and project-management principles to optimize scope, risk allocation, and financial feasibility across highly complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity based in Juno Beach, FL, working within the Engineering & Construction (E&C) Business Unit. You will collaborate with matrixed teams and executive leadership to drive investment decisions and ensure projects are positioned for seamless transition into construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead advanced pre-construction planning and optimization for utility-scale BESS projects, integrating engineering design, financial modeling, procurement strategy, and regulatory constraints to support executive investment decisions.
- Manage critical coordination of highly matrixed project development teams, ensuring resources are focused on the right activities to meet project schedules.
- Coordinate environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, interconnection, and other project variables to ensure comprehensive project development.
- Develop and optimize the project's technical scope and variables to improve both technical and financial feasibility.
- Support origination and development teams with PPA and GIA negotiations, as well as jurisdictional requirements.
- Coordinate engineering, estimating, and procurement needs to support the development of financial models and project designs.
- Competitively source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts for critical services, including geotechnical, survey, engineering, and EPC/PC construction services.
- Present financial models to business units, manage them through executive budget approvals, and communicate project progress and risk mitigation strategies to leadership and external stakeholders.
- Ensure seamless handover of projects moving to the construction stage, delivering an inclusive and executable construction plan to the Construction Project Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on engineering, economics, or construction preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and excellent project management, communication, financial, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license with no alcohol- or drug-related driving offenses within the previous five years; license must not be suspended or restricted.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to project locations and support Development with local public hearings.
Preferred Skills
- Technical experience with renewable energy projects, particularly electricity markets, renewables, and battery projects.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Six Sigma experience are highly desired.
